Աշխատանքային պարտականությունները

• Legal Adviser advises the delegation on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and national and/or international legal matters and conducts related legal work. She/he initiates, formulates, and implements strategies to address identified issues and delegation objectives in the legal domain. 
• Acts as a reference for IHL- related matters, provides relevant legal consultations and assistance to the delegation
• Contributes to the elaboration of objectives and strategies, and proposes ways of implementation and enhancement of IHL in the national legal framework
• Analyses the situation from the legal perspective, advises and provides guidance on the applicable national and international legal frameworks and norms in relation to the delegation’s activities, objectives and strategies to address identified legal and other related issues
• Provides legal advice and technical assistance to national authorities on key legal aspects related to operational priorities of the delegation
• Supports IHL dissemination activities directed at specialized audiences and the public and supports the implementation of strategies, programmes and action plans related to IHL treaty participation, the development or review of relevant domestic legal and policy frameworks and mechanisms for their implementation
• Monitors developments in the national implementation of IHL and relevant International Human Rights Law (IHRL) norms. Represents the delegation in meetings with relevant external stakeholders, in close coordination with senior management
• Drafts legal notes/analyses and contributes with legal aspects to working papers, summary reports, 'non-papers', etc. related to the delegation’s activities and objectives
• Maintains and develops relations with academic circles, supports the teaching of IHL through adapting the ICRC’s academic programs to the existing realities in Armenia and regionally, and develops and maintains networking with partners and contacts linked to legal questions and policy, as well as IHL promotion and implementation.

Պահանջվող որակավորումներ

• University degree in law, Master’s degree in a discipline of public international law, including IHL or IHRL
• Doctorate degree in Law or PhD in IHL will be an advantage 
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in a similar function
• Working experience in government or the judicial sector will be an asset
• Teaching/dissemination experience including at academic level, excellent presentation skills
• Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Armenian, knowledge of Russian will be as an asset
• Highly developed abilities to communicate with diverse groups and individuals, international organizations, as well as authorities
• Sound judgement and logical reasoning skills, high decisiveness, and integrity
• Commitment to providing accurate and professional legal services by preserving high level of confidentiality
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and in an international setting is a strong advantage
• Computer proficiency (MS Office package: Excel, Word, Power point etc.)
